OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject- Grant of Child Care Leave to women Government employees – Clarification – Regarding.

The undersigned is directed to refer to para 1(c) of this Department’s O.M. of even number dated 11th September, 2008 according to which Child Care Leave can be granted to women employees having minor children below the age of 18 years, for a maximum period of 2 years (i.e. 730 days) during their entire service, for taking care of upto two children whether for rearing or to look after any of their needs like examination, sickness etc. The question as to whether child care leave would be admissible for the third child below the age of 18 years and the procedure for grant of child care leave have been under consideration in this Department, and it has now been decided as follows:

  • (i) Child Care Leave shall be admissible for two eldest surviving children only.
  • (ii) The leave account for child care leave shall be maintained in the pro forma enclosed, and it shall be kept alongwith the Service Book of the Government servant concerned.

  1. can Karnataka government service employees claiming child care leave kindly suggest., how many days
    any rules are there can they rejoin from maternity leave they can left the office early if there so please mention
    for whom it would applied please explain?

    I was on medical leave after my deliver due to multiple health issues. During that time my husband got transferred to other city and at that time I could not take of the child alone so I shifted with my husband without taking child care leave. This happened during 2013. Now I want to join the government service again can I rejoin Karnataka government service claiming child care leave kindly suggest.

  3. Sir, My wife is a karnataka govt. employee, we have a daughter of 17 years. She needs our attention for her studies. so, can my wife apply child care leave. Is it permissible in karnataka. Kindly guide us through the Karnataka Govt. Orders if any, in this matter

  6. sir i am Karnataka state government employee. now i have a 9 month child. after six month maternity leave i am going to office and i leave my child to childcare center. I have give a birth to child as a single parent i am leaving alone with my child my parents sent me out from their house after birth of my child because they dont want child mainly i am widow they need my salary my earnings for my life secure I gave a birth to child and in birth cirtificate father name is not mentioned . sir why the child care facility not applicable so iam a single parent to my child I am state employee. and its my first child delivary they and is it not possible to declare all the state about child care leave facility in one rule without state requisition? please….Guide me

  8. Sir I am Rajasthan govt servant in education department. I have two children 8 year and 5 year old—- sir I can apply child care leave and which documents required for this leave.

  10. My wife is working in District court Hoshangabad, MP. She has availed 6 month maternity leave, further want to take leave for better care of baby for the next three month. It is any provision for employs of district court of MP take CCL facilities.
    Kindly guide and advice us in this matter.

    I want to know that Child care leave period including or excluding in our term of engagement that is 20 years in CRPF,we require more serve equal to CCL leave period to get pension or we retire in 20 yrs normally,kindly clarify thank you jai hind.

  13. i have got three children working with central government firm can i get child care leave and allowance for my second and third child. Please kindly let me,as my elder daughter is 21 years old.

  14. we have adopted a female child from district child welfare committee,burdwan west bengal on 25/3/2008 and we applied for legal custody of the child from the District Judge,Burdwan district court on . But till now due to delay in the court system we could not get the valid adoption certificate as result my wife being a rly employee did not get child adoption leave and the CLW Admn made her LWP while the child is in our custody from 25/3/2008. An early reply in this regard is solicited whether she is eligible to get adoption leave or not samir
